Mascara — Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal Wednesday put into operation the extension of the capacity of the drinking water treatment and dual supply plant of Bouhanifia.
This project, to which a budget of DZD 400 million was devoted, has been implemented in two steps; the first focused on extending the capacity of the drinking water treatment plant to increase its capacity from 250 to 450 liters/, as well as a double supply system.
The second step pertains to the installation of the remote control system of this station.
This project will improve the distribution of drinking water 12 hours a day against every three days before.
The Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Water Resources to release a statement for the use of local sand in the drinking water treatment plants, especially as this kind of sand is available in Algeria, particularly in Tebessa.
Abdelmalek Sellal stressed the need for chlorine production within the treatment plant to ensure its independence, recalling this experience, which does not require substantial resources, has been practiced in the province of Tiaret.
