The one billion euro ($1.3-billion) deal to build Algiers great mosque was signed with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) in 2012.  As the world’s biggest mosque outside Mecca and Medina, it will be part of an enormous complex including prayer rooms and measuring 150 m × 150 m × 23 m (492 ft × 492 ft × 75 ft), a dome measuring 50 meters (164 ft) in diameter, a cultural centre with an amphitheatre (1,500 seats), a library (2,000 seats), an administrative building, a public security office and a school of Coranic studies including residences for 300 students.  Works on site have made huge progress and are now in the final stages (November 2015 last update)
