Algiers — Palestine's Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki stressed Tuesday in Algiers the need to pursue "consultations and bilateral coordination" with Algeria, considering the challenges the region faces.

In a statement to the press upon his arrival in the Algiers International Airport Houari Boumediene, al-Maliki said his visit to Algeria is part of the "consolidation of bilateral relations, consultations and coordination between Palestine and Algeria."

"We do need to pursue these consultations and coordination at several levels, in the face of the regional and international challenges, as well as recent developments in Palestine," he added.

The Palestinian top diplomat, who was welcomed upon his arrival by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, highlighted the "importance" of the position of Algeria, which supports the Palestinian cause.
