Oran — Burundi's Foreign Minister Alain Aime Nyamitwe highlighted Tuesday in Oran his country's interest to benefit from Algeria's experience in national reconciliation and promotion of political and peaceful solutions to crisis.
Alain Aime Nyamitwe stated that his country attaches "very particular" interest to Algeria's experience in terms of national reconciliation and promotion of political and peaceful solutions to crisis, adding that his country intends to benefit from this experience, a source close to the Foreign Affairs ministry told APS.
The Burundian minister had a meeting with Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra, on the sidelines of the High Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, whose works will wrap up today.
At this meeting, Ramtane Lamamra recalled Algeria position regarding the situation in Burundi and the Great Lakes region. "This is a principled position which supports stabilization efforts of all the States in crisis, while respecting their sovereignty, unity and diversity," Lamamra stressed.
The two sides also stressed the need to strengthen political dialogue between the two countries to revitalize bilateral relations. The two ministers agreed on the importance of promoting regular diplomatic consultations between the two countries and the establishment of permanent diplomatic contact between them.
