Algiers — Minister of Industry and Mines Abdesselam Bouchouareb, represents Algeria in the 46th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) which started proceedings Wednesday in Switzerland's Davos, the ministry said.

At this Forum, which will continue until next Sunday, Bouchouareb "will take part in several panels to share the positions and the visions of Algeria on numerous issues concerning the regions of Africa, the Maghreb and the Middle East, "said a statement of Industry Ministry.

In this major economic meeting, he will also "promote the destination Algeria, its strengths and the new industrial and technological ambition of Algeria before being becoming emergent country in 2030," the statement said.

The main theme of this meeting is "Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution."

In this regard, the minister underlined that Algeria "ambitions to gradually positioning itself as leader of value generating by exploiting its natural and human assets to move towards lasting advantages."

According to Bouchouareb, the fourth industrial revolution "must be perceived as an opportunity which is imposed on us by its rapid expansion."

The minister, however, called for grasping the rapid changes brought about by the revolution, particularly on the emerging or the developing countries, and in terms of managing change toward new forms of organization, production and trade as well as the impact of higher unemployment and social pressures on vulnerable economies.

He noted that this transition stage "must be coordinated to avoid crowding out effects and ensure a fair, harmonious and sustainable development to all humanity."
