Minister of Industries and Innovation Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir hopes that work on projects ensuring tourist safety will begin as soon as possible. New ideas from the Tourist Control Center regarding tourist safety will be introduced in coming days, RÚV reports.
The Tourist control center was established last fall, among other things to ensure that the next five years will be used to embark on urgent projects in tourism service. Special emphasis is put on improving tourist safety by building decks, putting up signs and laying trails at major tourist destinations.
The proposals are under review at three ministries and Ragnheiður Elín expects them to be reviewed by the government and processed very soon. RÚV reports the cost of the projects will be a few hundred million ISK (ISK 100 million equals about USD 800,000, or EUR 700,000).
